First Milk collects top prize at 2023 International Cheese and Dairy Awards
First Milk's Aged Double Gloucester, made at Haverfordwest Creamery, won the acclaimed Supreme Champion award at this year's ICDA.
Picking up the award made First Milk the first creamery block cheese outright supreme champion in more than 20 years.
Haverfordwest’s aged Double Gloucester won an array of other awards alongside the coveted Supreme Champion Award:
- The Champion UK cheese of any variety
- The John Beckett trophy for champion creamery block territorial cheese
- The CHR Hansens trophy for champion Double Gloucester
- Gold for best aged Double Gloucester
Other cheese varieties produced at Haverfordwest won the following class medals:
• Gold – Mild White Cheddar
• Gold – Mild Coloured Cheddar
• Gold – Mature Coloured Cheddar
• Silver – Mild White Cheddar
• Silver – Medium Coloured Cheddar
• Silver – Aged Red Leicester
• Bronze – Medium White Cheddar
First Milk’s Lake District Creamery was also amongst the big trophy winners, collecting the prestigious Best English Cheese trophy for their Extra Mature Cheddar as well as the following class medals:
• Gold – Medium White Cheddar
• Silver – Mature White Cheddar
• Silver – Extra Mature White Cheddar
