We are looking for a seasoned SHE Manager to join our creamery in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire. The role involves taking full ownership of executing and overseeing the group’s SHE strategy.

You will collaborate closely with the Business Unit SHE Manager and Head of Impact while also supervising the on-site SHE Advisor.

You will be a key player in ensuring the safety, health, and environmental compliance of the site, providing expert advice, guidance, and support to the leadership team and employees.

The Role

As SHE Manager you will provide leadership on all areas of HSE on site.

Additionally, you will:

  • Be accountable for ensuring health, safety, environment and quality across all areas of the site
  • Manage site SHE budgets ensuring overall site budgetary commitments are achieved.
  • Ensure that site activities and processes comply with regulatory, statutory, industry and other obligations to protect the business, employees and others.
  • Develop and lead the site Safety, Health & Environmental performance metrics, ensuring that performance is measured, reported and improved through positive behavioural safety and risk reduction programmes to reduce regulatory risk.
  • Manage major compliance incidents to ensure the health and safety of employees and others, protection of the environment to ensure the company’s reputation is maintained and risk is reviewed and managed appropriately.
  • Lead the site regulatory relationship with regulatory government bodies, providing the principal interface with government and industry bodies alike.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to all employees and management with regard to SHE compliance, performance and responsibilities across the site, whilst taking ownership and providing guidance on areas of defined group responsibility.
  • Develop site management systems, procedures and protocols to ensure that production activities at the site remain in line with legislative requirements to ensure the risk of injury, ill health or compliance issues are minimised.
  • Manage the site’s internal and external audit programme to ensure management systems and procedures remain fit for purpose.

About You

To be considered as our SHE Manager, you will need to have:

  • Solid experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • IOSH membership, with Chartered status (CMIOSH) or the ability to achieve it.
  • IEMA Certificate or equivalent in Environmental Management.
  • Trained Lead Auditor in ISO 14001 and/or OHSAS 18001.
  • Experience in delivering certified training programs and qualifications.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence across various levels of management.
  • Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex SHE topics clearly and effectively.
  • Proven experience in proactively engaging with regulatory bodies and agencies.
  • Strong questioning skills and ability to identify root causes of issues.
  • Good IT skills and knowledge of MS Office
  • Solid understanding of UK health, safety, and environmental statutes and how to apply them in a manufacturing context.
