The Role

As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will support the quality of the products we create by providing staff with technical support and guidance. You will also undertake a range of safeguarding activities to ensure the quality of our site, products and staff.

Undertaking product and food safety and quality checks, you will ensure site standards regarding processing, meeting specifications and behaviours comply are consistently met or exceeded. After identifying any discrepancies, you will instigate effective corrective actions to deliver Food Safety and Quality objectives. Providing technical support to each team as well as the management, you will ensure the factory is always maintained in an “audit ready” state.

Key Responsibilities

• Creating a continuous improvement culture
• Maintaining high standards of food safety/ quality, health & safety and environment
• Driving food safety plan to meet required standards and specifications
• Managing positive working practices

This will be done via key activities such as:
• Analytical testing of product and process samples to meet the site minimum testing schedule. This may include ad hoc samples relating to investigatory work.
• Log samples and download results/ reports from the contract laboratory database
• Carry out quality checks across the site, as dictated by laboratory work schedules and technical procedures
• Manage lab consumable stocks including updating our electronic stock systems.
• Training of site colleagues in a variety of testing methods, CCPs, technical protocols and carrying out staff competency assessments
• Ensure that GMP, procedures and hygiene standards are adhered to across the site by informal walking tours and formally by auditing. Auditing may be in the form of systems, CCP, GMP, and hygiene audits
• Compiling and issuing COA’s
• Supporting Quality Assurance Manager, Quality Systems Manager and Technical manager during external visits and audits.

About You

To be considered as a QAT, you will need:

• L2 Food Hygiene
• L2 HACCP
• Internal Audit qualification
• Experience in Microsoft Office suite
• To be approachable and positively challenging
• To be self-driven and organised
